A letter from our founder

Welcome to The Educator’s Atelier.

For as long as I can remember, I have always strived to be the very best educator I could be.

My journey into education was shaped by hard work, determination and a deep belief in the power of teaching. I graduated with first-class honours in my Professional Master’s in Education from DCU, receiving the Vere Foster Medal for achieving the highest marks in teaching practice and curriculum studies. During those years, I commuted daily from my hometown of Cavan to Dublin, and on the busiest weeks, couch-surfed with friends just to make it work.

Like many educators, I made sacrifices along the way. I carefully balanced my finances so that I could dedicate two full years to my postgraduate studies without working part-time, ensuring I could give everything to becoming the teacher I wanted to be.

Since then, my career has been driven by a passion for growth, impact and community. I have worked as Head of Maths, a Lead Practitioner in Mathematics and now Head of Year 1, all within my first six years in the classroom, while remaining a full-time class teacher.

Alongside school leadership, I have always believed in supporting the wider profession. I collaborated with Dove on the Self-Esteem Project in Ireland for two consecutive years, and in 2017 I began sharing ideas and inspiration online through “Múinteoir N”, creating a space where teachers could exchange creativity, guidance and support. More recently, I have developed EPV summer courses for newly qualified teachers, helping them navigate their first years in the profession.

But behind all of this is something deeper.

I have always believed that being an excellent educator should never come at the cost of living a full life. Family and friends are incredibly important to me, and over the past decade I have been intentional about creating systems that allow me to honour every pillar of my life. My methods have helped me stay productive in my career while still making space to socialise, spend meaningful time with family, celebrate life’s big moments, and even adopt my beloved dog, Rua.

This balance did not happen by accident.

Over the years, through constant reflection and refinement, I developed a personal productivity system that helped me manage the realities of teaching, the cognitive load, the task overload, and the endless demands on our time.

The Educator’s Atelier was born from that journey.

It is a space designed to support educators not only in their work, but in their lives. Through thoughtful tools, reflection, and community, my hope is to help educators organise their priorities, reconnect with their values, and approach their work with clarity and confidence.

Teaching is one of the most important professions in the world. Educators deserve systems that support them, spaces that inspire them, and communities that uplift them.

Thank you for being here and for being part of this community.

With gratitude,
Nadine Lyons
